SharePoint Quick Start
The SharePoint 2003 Quick Start provides 200 hours of expert technical services to help in the early stage of a deployment project.The key value of this service is the interactive design sessions during which our consultant gathers information on your environment and needs, educates your IT staff on the critical architecture decisions, and guides you to the best solutions. Our consultant then prepares and reviews an architecture document with you.
Major milestones include:
Requirements: The Quick Start engagement begins with a review of the business requirements and definition of the projects vision and scope. Key project criteria will be considered in the context of the organization's business objectives. Framing the vision and scope focuses the project creating more valuable results with less risk.
Design Sessions: Our consultant will lead a series of interactive design sessions covering the core decisions that must be made to successfully develop a first pass design. The design sessions will cover:
- Logical design: The first step is to consider the ideal system design which will guide later sessions as they address issues with practical realization of the vision.
- Active Directory: SharePoint Server's integration with and requirements for the Microsoft Active Directory service in Windows Server�either to review an existing Active Directory design or make recommendations to the design team.
- Physical Design: Implementing the logical design through consideration of server design, server placement, system lockdown, and administration.
- Upgrade and Coexistence: Upgrade strategies will be discussed along with best practices for handling coexistence and migration issues with existing equipment and services.
- Data Presentation: Options for presenting data and interacting with the user.
- Data Warehousing and Storage: Options for maintaining and publishing data.
- Data Sources: Options for accessing data sources and sinks.
- Caching: Options for accelerating access to popular data content.

Deliverable: The Quick Start Technical Specification document will detail all the information gathered and decisions made during the project. It will include a summary of the next steps needed to successfully deploy SharePoint Server. This summary will highlight areas unique to the environment that will require further detailed follow up.
